Porcelain v.s. All Porcelain

There are three main types of dentures: removable dentures, fixed dentures and implants.

The most widely used denture crown restoration materials are mainly divided into two types - porcelain and all-ceramic.

Porcelain teeth: The inner crown is metal, and the outer surface is covered with a ceramic material with high aesthetics. According to the material difference of inner crown metal, porcelain teeth can be divided into alloy porcelain teeth (including nickel alloy porcelain, cobalt-chromium alloy porcelain, titanium alloy porcelain, etc.), precious metal porcelain alloy, etc. The price of porcelain teeth is relatively low.

Nickel-chromium alloy porcelain teeth: Due to the high activity of nickel metal, there is a free release of metal, which is prone to free black lines of the gums and slight toxic reactions.

Cobalt-chromium alloy porcelain teeth: The stability of cobalt metal is stronger than that of nickel metal, and the adverse stimulation to the human body is less, and cobalt-chromium metal is harder, wear-resistant, and has relatively good bonding force with porcelain powder. However, adverse irritation and black lines on the gums cannot be completely prevented.

Titanium alloy porcelain teeth: anti-corrosion, good biocompatibility, not easy to oxidize, natural color.

Precious metal porcelain teeth: non-toxic and non-irritating, rarely cause allergies, good biocompatibility; good aesthetics, no gum black line problem.

All-ceramic teeth: It is entirely composed of ceramics, and there is no inner crown metal. Its permeability, refractive index and transparency far exceed those of porcelain teeth.

Beautiful, closer to natural teeth, higher price. Since all-ceramic teeth have both aesthetics and biocompatibility, it is expected that the clinical penetration rate will continue to increase in the future.
