When it comes to dental prosthesis materials, both Zirconia and eMax are widely used in modern dentistry. What are the differences between zirconia and eMax, you might ask?
Zirconia dental crowns are made from zirconium dioxide, a white powdered ceramic material. While emax is lithium disilicate which is glass. Zirconia can withstand more forces, but is not as translucent or pretty as eMax. So normally eMax crown can be used for the front tooth and zirconia crown can be used for the molar and back tooth. Some patients use emax for molars due to aesthetic reasons. But more and more cases show that patient need to repair their eMax molars because of fatigue fracturing after three or four years of use. So use eMax or zirconia crown in the anterior position, use zirconia crown in the molar and back tooth, cause the date tells no lies.
